emacs-chess software package provides a client and library for playing Chess from Emacs, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install emacs-chess
emacs-chess is installed in your system.
Make ensure the emacs-chess package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep emacs-chess *
You will get with emacs-chess package name, version, architecture and description in a table
